Growing Hope Through Family
Many things have given me hope over the past two years while I’ve been dealing with a range of medical issues. But at the top of the list is my 12-year-old first grandchild. Lynn is thriving.
Besides learning to do chores and be helpful around the home – and doing well in school – Lynn has taken up gymnastics. She started a couple of years ago, took a break (she let the field lie fallow for a while), but is pursuing it again with enthusiasm. A recent photo of Lynn at practice accompanies this article.
What is it about my granddaughter that has strengthened my sense of hope?
A season to everything
Seeing youth and physical strength reminds me of the wonderful stage of life Lynn is at, and the skills she’s building and will enjoy for many years to come. Her achievements remind me that, although I’m currently navigating a health downside, I am also enjoying the upside of seeing my granddaughter’s accomplishments. There’s a season to everything.
The skills my granddaughter is learning will remain with her for many years to come.

Seeing Lynn learning and practicing valuable life skills leaves me thankful that she is on the right path. Children have many challenges to handle these days, and I credit Lynn’s hard work, plus the parenting talents of my daughter and son-in-law. They have taught her well.
As 2025 draws to a close, I have realized that the opportunity to be involved as a grandparent and to see the next generation flourish have been my greatest sources of hope.
The future is bright!
